Does anyone have experience in DaD?

My team is using SAFe (Scaled Agile Framework). We're big enough that some level of scaled agile is useful (especially to handle the business), but SAFe is too large and too much overhead for our size of team.

I've recently come across Disciplined Agile, which purports to be an in-between for scrum and SAFe. It seems like a good fit for us and the problems we encounter. That said, most of the articles and comments about DaD come from 2015, which makes me wonder if there was as much value in the framework as I see off the bat.

Does anyone have some experience working with DaD? What worked well? What didn't? Had you previously been using scrum or other methodologies?
