Putting all of the languages you’ve worked with on a resume

I’ve been reviewing resumes a lot lately and I feel like most software developers put every language they have ever used in the Skills section, which usually turns out to 15-20ish languages each resume. Personally, I think it looks too buzzwordy.

The other day I came across a resume that had their languages listed by experience:

  • “By experience: Ruby, Rails, PostgreSQL, Python, …, PHP”

I thought this was a fantastic way to explicitly say which languages they are most comfortable in.

What do you guys think about this?
