Trouble understanding others

Hey guys. I’m a new software engineer at a new company, and I have a little bit of trouble understanding our tech leads who are incredibly smart and they tend to talk really fast. I also have trouble understanding the ‘big picture’. Sadly, I ended up asking them to clarify a task to me up to 3 times. I’ve heard from my manager that my tech leads found this to be irritable. I’m wondering how can I improve this problem, has anyone dealt with this problem and if they’ve solved it? And what core issue could this the reason for? I’m really trying not to upset my tech leads.
