Desktop software in Python

Hey guys, first post here. I want to learn python (i know the basics of it) and I figured out one of the ways would be to create a project instead of doing random tutorials or just reading the docs. Is it a good idea to make a desktop (windows or mac or Linux) desktop software in Python? How about a mobile application (don't really wanna do that, i like flutter and javascript better for that). What else can I do? I just need to know what kind of project I should make for it and the best way to get started. Thanks a lot!
