I’m a software dev, who mainly freelances and works solo. This is in addition to a job I have as an IT manager of a logistics company.
The question I have for you guys as I’ve never worked in enterprise development is:
Is it normal for our main operating system (the thing we use for booking in jobs etc) to have updates made to it DAILY. They are currently on minor version 500 of version 18.
This is causing my operations teams so many headaches as they are constantly changing things and “enhancing” things. The reality is, it’s introducing bugs and confusion for the operators.
This isn’t a web app so we have to test each update in a UAT environment before going to prod.
My one question is; is this common?? It seems Insane.
Apologies for being ignorant if this is considered normal on the enterprise world. Everything I’ve ever released and is in use has a stable release version that only gets updated if bugs are found.
