How much time do you spend with nothing to do at work?

Just curious how common this problem is. I have had no actual work at all for about a month now, and very little for about 4 months prior. It feels like I'm being managed out, but objectively I don't think that's the case. I recently got very positive reviews from my boss and peers, I got a raise last year, I've been told more than once by my VP that I'll be moving to a new team "soon". Nobody else that I've discussed this with seems to think that I should be worried.

So with that said, how many of you have fuck all to do at work on a normal basis? I've been told this is common in the software industry, but I absolutely hate it.
