Question about web development skills and how they translate into other software development.

As the title suggests I have a general question about web development and software development. How do the skills of a web developer translate into other aspects of software development?

Apologies for any inaccuracy in my next statement, but, as far as I know a big part of being a web developer is using JavaScript in conjunction with HTML and CSS to create front end websites and JavaScript is also used in the back-end with Node. How do these technologies/languages work or translate to other languages and aspects of software development?
