If an application has a nag screen which pops up every 3 months, but the nag screen contains a "don't nag me again" checkbox, would you still consider it nagware?
What if instead of a checkbox, a tooltip is used to explain how to disable the nag? This is much less obvious than a checkbox, since the user may not necessarily hover over that particular control – they may just go straight for the close button at top right and miss the instructions.
What if the instructions for disabling the nag were contained only in a readme file alongside the program executable?
What are your opinions on this?
Thanks
