How To Interact With Server Through App

I have a DigitalOcean droplet with a Python script in my home directory. I am building a desktop app with HTML/CSS and Javascript (Electron) and I want to be able to run this script from my desktop app. How can I do this? Would I need the app to access the terminal or something? I'd greatly appreciate some starting pointers that can help me google my way through the rest. Thank you!
