Need advice on what software development personal projects should i start

I am a grad student and haven't gotten any internship for this Summer. My work ex and previous projects are all mostly based on web application development. I want to get into software development roles. Can someone suggest what kind of projects should i complete this Summer so that my profile looks more like i am interested in software development.
