How much to start a Social Media App?

Hello, I am a college student looking into creating a social media style app. I am learning how to code by taking courses and I’m still a beginner. I was looking online on the cost of a social media app and the prices were way beyond my budget. I’m talking hundreds of thousands of dollars. Were those prices for people who hire others to code? I want to make mine from scratch. What route should I take since I am not financially able to pay for all of that?
