Sustainable and feasible approach to a project

So for my class project we have to built an app that's main goal is to reduce food waste. Our app can connect local restaurants to local food banks/charities that can distribute the food to homeless people. I am not looking for coding advice. I need some advice from business perspective. Will this app work? What would be a better way to connect restaurants to charities? One idea I had was to build the app for homeless people to use and restaurants will directly contact them. but I think it won't work because many homeless people don't have phones/internet. Also, restaurants won't agree to having bunch of homeless people come in to collect leftovers everyday. I feel the best way is to connect restaurants (they can add the type and amount of food they have ) and charities (they will receive app notification whenever any local restaurants have any food to giveaway). I need some thoughts on this from other people. Thanks!
