How to get from idea to commercial product?

I don't know if this is the right sub to ask this question but here goes.
Let's say you have an idea for a product/service that to build requires skills in multiple areas: data engineering, data science, web development, etc.

It is possible to build something yourself that maybe resembles what you have in mind but of course looks nothing like a product made by a team of professionals each in their respective areas of expertise.

How do you go about this? Do you try to code a prototype yourself? Work out a business plan first and seek funding so others can build it?

I imagine when just presenting the product idea to potential investors or clients:

• it is difficult for them to understand what the product will actually look like, and how it will work
• nothing stops them from developing the product themselves if all you have is an idea
