Is it still possible to generate passive income using bots online or has that market been destroyed by oversaturation

So I had the idea to create a resale bot that would scrape data from ebay for a while, then use that data to buy out items which were undervalued and resell them for profit. This sounded like a fun project, but I'm curious as to whether an individual could still make any profit in 2020 doing something like this. My intuition is that every half competent programmer will have at some point had an idea like this, so the market will have become so oversaturated with these kinds of bots that profit just isn't viable anymore. Is that the case?
