Is it worth it ?

Im 18 and I will be attending college about a month from now. My main goal for college is to find my purpose, its a calculated risk. I know there are many experienced software developers in this chat. I'd like to know more about this line of work. Such as, Are you satiafied with this line work ? What is the typical work week like ? Do you feel that this field takes up too much of your time ? I would greatly appreciate it.
