Do developers/engineers really hate Facebook/Apple or is this just a select few?

Just curious when talking to friends and colleagues this is the sentiment from the majority of them. Has anyone noticed this or feel this way and if so is there a reason for this?

What I've heard from some are things like 'facebooks evil' or 'Apple doesn't let you customize or see their code'. Are those really the main reasons? Or is this just the tip of the iceberg?
