Selling My Application

Hi, It hurts me to make this post, but I don’t want my work to go to waste. 2 years ago, I started working on an application called “Flash Vault”, which is pretty self-explanatory. It’s a very small application with more than 100,000 lines of code that encrypts your files. It’s so small, It can even fit on a 5mb flash drive (but then you’ll have no space to store your files). The way the application works is that 10 users can access 100 files. Each of the 100 files has its own specific customizable code (think of it as it’s ID). A user can access one of those files if they know their username, password, and the file’s code (ID). This was my first application I ever made. Again, as I said before, I started making this application 2 years ago, so it holds a place in my heart. Just a few days ago, I was starting to finish the application. I could finish it within a week, so I decided to try to make a website for it. While planning the website, I somehow came across Copyright. Copyrighting an application is necessary as if you don’t copyright your application, someone can claim it’s theirs and sue you for distribution of stolen software. So I looked up how to copyright an application, and that’s when it happened. To file a copyright, you need to pay $50. Here’s the thing, I planned to make this application free, so if I spent $50 on copyright, that money is gone, and I am never getting it back. Also, $50 is a lot for me, and I can’t risk paying that much for something that will never do me any good. So that’s why I am here. I am looking to sell my software and the code to the software to anyone. I plan to finish the application before selling it. The reason I am here is to ask one question, does anyone know how to sell a piece of software, and if you know how to, you much would you price my application at? Thanks so much for reading.
