Right now I have a couple of scheduled tasks that are running as cron jobs on a server. I feel this may not be the most efficient setup. I think it couples application concern too much to the underlining infrastructure. I also think cron can easily be forgotten.
Having to handle jobs for servers running on multiple servers also becomes tricky. It also not the most discoverable part of an application stack.
The question I have is, if not cron jobs, what better tools are there to manager scheduled/re-occurring tasks that is more manageable than cron jobs.
