How do I go about updating Mobile Web App Dependencies?

Hello,

I am working on a senior project for school that was developed from a previous group from last semester. this mobile web app was developed using Yarn, Node, and React-Native. The previous group provided an installation guide for installing dependencies for the app but they are outdated.

Trying to update the dependencies causes many problems that I can't seem to fix. And breaks the app completely.

Has anyone encountered this kind of problems? How do you carefully update app dependencies?
