How to ask for code explanation written by senior developer?

I work in start-up company as a junior developer. where no one maintain code documentation or write test cases or comments. sometime its very difficult to understand other people's code. Should I ask them for code explanation ?? or Should I figureout by debugging the code ??

I feel guilty about asking too many questions.
