I want to make an app

Hi there, I am extremely new to software development and im struggling to find some info on how to do this.
Im trying to make an app for myself that would limit instagram to only show the direct messages, I have a very addictive personality and i waste alot of time on instagram feed and explore page, however the way i contact my friends and family is through the direct messages section. I want to make an app which basically just mirrors my DMs and doesnt allow me to access the other features of instagram. If this is the wrong subreddit or if the idea is just impossible id appreciate feedback as opposed to just a silent downvote. Thanks.
