How do software devs keep up with what is going on when using the terminal?

I’m learning about terminal commands and git bash and I’m wondering how people keep up with what’s happening?

I find it hard because I can’t “see” what is going on, I can only read from my last command or see what my last command spit out. Am I missing something or Is this just a case of getting used to it?
