(Question) New to software development

I’m currently lost as to where to begin to go down a path of software development. I recently spoke to a software developer but was rather short with me so I didn’t get too much out of them. They directed me to AWS and I just finished taking a look at the website but I’m unsure as to where to begin or what should I be getting certified for. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
