How do I begin with Software Dev?

Soon to be college freshman here with no software dev experience here. I have no idea how to start. I’m here to ask you guys some tips on where I ‘should’ begin (or maybe your personal experiences).

Some context: I know up to classes and objects for Python and C++, but have not yet taken a Data Structures & Algorithms class yet (hopefully I don’t need knowledge on this for basic software dev).

Creating software seems cool, but where do I even begin after learning the basics of a programming language? All these tools and tech and processes feel so extremely overwhelming to me.

Do you guys have any suggestions or a pathway/plan? What do you guys recommend me to learn or experiment on first?
