A programming language suitable for creating a text editor

I want to make a text editor as a first project. It won't be very complicated at first, it will get improvements along the way anyway, but I wonder what the right programming language would be to create something like that. At the moment I have some knowledge in c ++ and python but I will be happy to learn another programming language if needed.
