Bored senior developer, looking to make a change

I’ve been a professional OOP software developer for 16 years now. Mainly C#/Java web development, and mobile apps. I’ve become bored as hell and need a change. I’m paid well but work on an old boring monolith project. I’d like to transition into something more cutting edge like VR or gaming. I’m worried the industry is passing me by. I have no idea what sort of training I need to seek out to make the leap into graphics. Anyone else struggle with this or have advice?
