Should I store data in local storage & database?

Say I have a multi platform app (mobile & web) that allows users to favorite items and view them on either platform. Does it make sense to store the favorite items in both the local storage as well as in a DB? That way, if say the user were to view the app on mobile, the favorites would be pulled from local storage as opposed to the DB, as long as the data is more recent ? Otherwise, if the favorites in the database are more recent, it would pull from the database?
