How would you summarize the work in different fields of software development?

This question is addressed towards those who have hands-on experience in multiple IT fields.

How can you summarize working for a company in certain field of IT? There are a lot of stories out there, most of them might just be stereotypes, I'd be interested in how is the work in these different branches, like automotive/spacetechnology/gaming/telco..etc.

For example I've heard many stories, that gaming industry is full of stress and overtime and relatively low pay, whereas banking is usually reasonably paid, but full of legacy code.
