What is the best tool, in your opinion, to read & understand new code?

Hi, I'm a self-learning software development and I'm trying to find good ways to read & understand new code effectively.

Is there any secret tool that can make that task more effective? Or it just take a normal IDE (for jump to definition, etc..) and a lot of practice to learn new code faster? Thank you 🙂
