M2 Air or M2 Pro?

I’m starting school for software engineering and I need a Mac. I want this computer to last me a long time and be usable for coding projects after school, too. Either way, I’m definitely going to upgrade to 16G RAM and probably keep 256 SSD. Thinking the M2 Pro may be better because of the fan, but I have seen some comments suggesting it’s not a quality computer. I guess I could also get an M1, but it seems to make more sense to get the newest model since I’m planning to use it for as long as I can. Thoughts?
