Working on my own project

Hey everybody,

For a while now I want to work on my own project and do it well.

I am a security engineer that's learning web development at the same time (been learning on and off for 2-3 years, but started with Python), and I have encountered lots of issues when it comes to actually doing a project from scratch.

I am mostly using Remix (full-stack framework, based on React) and I got a hold of it, or at least I think so. I have created a website, that calls API's, has authentication, has lots of dynamic stuff, works alright, buuut..

Now, I want to work on a more complex project of my own, and one thing that was really hard on the first one, was to actually plan and follow the plans I make.

I am interested in understanding how to tackle this, what to start with when doing such thing.

I thought of starting with trying to prototype something in Figma, then doing some data modeling to visualise what I will end up doing. I also need to plan the deployment/infrastructure so the development matches the end needs.

If anybody has a framework, a tool, anything that could help me get from A to Z, I would really appreciate if you'd share it. As well as any advice you have on the matter (as long as it's not "don't do it alone").

I can spend around 2-3 hours a day on the project, and as a deadline I want it to be 1st of November. The app is a quiz-based learning app πŸ™‚

I am really interested in what experienced devs think about this.

Thank you for reading so far!
