I’m building an opensource workplace search engine for devs
I’ve always struggled with the slow process of finding slack messages, relevant docs, code snippets, or emails.
The problem; information is scattered between a bunch of different workplace apps & services.
I decided to build a search engine for devs, that:
- Enables you to search all your workspace applications. (slack, confluence, notion, jira, github, outlook, gmail, etc…)
- Allows searching in natural language. (“How do I do X”)
- No download, Does it all from the browser.
- Only use local browser storage, no cloud servers. (I want other people who don’t trust me with their docs to use this).
I’ve built this using nodejs, wasm, and a fine-tuned compressed T5 NLP model I successfully tuned for running in the browser, I’m using browser API IndexDB for persistent storage.
I’m rolling it out slowly to devs I think could get the most value from this, There’s some missing parts I want to roll the kinks out of before this goes fully public.
