Should off-the-self software be proposed ?

Hello,

I had a meeting with a group of investors that want to build a VR app.

After gathering their requirements – I understood that I can go two ways with this:

1 – Built it myself – which I am reluctant to do because of time limitations.

2 – Propose an off the self solution. There are good solutions out there that will cover most of their requirements.

I mentioned that if after the demo launch or in the future we identify that the off the self solution is not good enough then we can look into developing something of our own.

I keep thinking that I might have approached this the wrong way?
