I remember software use to be less manipulative and was transparent with updates. I find now these days every software just annoys me with updates, things breaking, reversing useful features, force update, annoying pop-ups, not letting me say no. I don't like any software long term because I feel it's subject to change. What was building software before like?
How did software get so gross? Am I the only one not annoyed by these? I thought before software was just a tool and I got to choose what it did. Feels like these days I don't have control what my software does and I just want to use a flip phones. Social media apps constantly experimenting and changing UI, using what's app locking up my contact unless I update, lastpass making a worse product to make you pay. Are just a few example.
Is this stuff just normalized now and no one thinks this is wrong? I hope something changes.
