How challenging is it to build a Shipping form/page for a business website?

Hi guys –

I've noticed that multiple development teams I've worked with have really struggled to build Shipping/Billing forms that don't experience large amounts of errors and require tons of refinement until we get it fully functioning.

Things like: address verification; required fields; auto-filling in the correct boxes; hyphens overwriting numbers in phone numbers; etc.

Is this something that is "known" as a challenge?

Any pointers in terms of how to better approach/implement best practices for these kinds of forms?
