Struggling with Realtime chatting project…

Hey guys, I was wondering if any of you guys know whether I can create a desktop app as frontend and then the backend to be running as a web app… I don't know how to go about that… I tried to google but with no luck… I need to be able to host the application so I can open the client.exe on separate PCs and they should be able to communicate with each other… Can anyone please give me advice on how to go about this… My project has to be submitted next week Monday 😦
