Sandbox Environment

This is a really stupid question, but I need to know. My company’s Readme says that every developer has their own sandbox environment for testing. I get the general idea, but I don’t know how to use my own environment. Basically there’s a folder containing the environment variables and a couple other json files; this folder has the same name as my environment. Do I just cd into the folder? What am I supposed to do with it?
