Save – Cancel OR Cancel – Save: What order do you put these 2 buttons in?

I make lots of windows with a save button and a cancel button. My gut tells me that the cancel button goes first when placed next to each other. But sometimes I question what I'm doing. Is there a standard way to handle this?
