If I already have a desktop at home will I need or benefit from having a laptop as well?

Does a developer benefit at all from having a laptop to take and use at the office then to bring back home? In what ways are there uses for that if there is? Or do most SWE just use the company desktop and come home to use their own desktop for their own personal projects, and don’t have a laptop?
