App development

So I’m not sure if this is the right place for this question or not but I figured I would try here. Basically, I am new to all of this, so just looking for some guidance and would be grateful! Let’s say I wanted to create an app or program that could be used with apples pro vision or any other VR goggles any other VR goggles.

I have the idea, but don’t know where to start. Do I need to find a programmer and a coder, where would be the best place to higher? Can you Patent an idea or do you have to have some kind of software in place first?

I have a lot of research to do and I may be asking the wrong questions, but like I said, any help would be appreciated!
