How to sell my software?

I've been making a bit of software in python, using visual studio. I'm at the point where I actually see real world uses for it and that it could benefit people.

I don't however want to just hand over the code. I've spent a good portion of time on it, so I'm wondering how do people sell small bits of software?

Like a small price $5 use for the compiled version.

What do people do in this scenario?
