Busy software dad looking for advice

I’m a software developer and a father to a 17 month old boy. I recently started a new role and it requires a bit of a learning curve to get used to. It’s in a space where subject matter is important, and the code is kind of legacy but very open to modification. I work 8 hour days, but I do find I need extra time to learn and complete tasks. I’m already being consulted on various issues so find I lose some of my day to that.

By the time daycare pickup, dinner, bath, sleep and clean up is done it’s 8pm. That’s the best we can do, my wife and I already do tasks in parallel to speed it up.

I’d like to use that 8-10/10:30 period to get work done but I’m so exhausted. I can only doom scroll, or watch tv.

Any advice to find some end of the day energy? I can’t have coffee I’ll ruin my sleep. Any suggestions for that end of day boost?
