how to learn Software Development as someone from different field

I am currently in an IT recruitment agency, I don't deal with the technical part, but I do interact with candidates who are working in the software development industry. and it kind of made me feel interested, so I started researching some basic things I have no idea about software development or anything technical, I have a very basic idea about the languages. I just want to learn and know how to get into the software field. What would you guys suggest for someone from another field? What should I learn first? Where do I begin from? I was thinking about learning Java or Python, please suggest what would be the best thing to start with.
