Sorry if this isn’t the right sub, but it seems like the best one.
Without giving out the blueprints to my idea, I work in the music industry, and I have an idea for a music chart creation app. It’s going to be pretty in depth and not an easy/simple process at all. Think the “Ultimate Guitar” app but in a different perspective.
So far I’ve drawn up some mock interfaces on paper on how I want it all to work, and I have a clear vision/ expertise (music wise) on how the app needs to behave. The problem now is how do I make it come to life? I’ve tried to learn coding in a few different languages over the years, and it’s just a little too complicated and confusing for how much time I have to learn it. The other problem is I have 0 capital to pay a dev team. When this is the case in the music industry, you work for “points” so (if) the song/project becomes big, you make your money. So that may be the path I need to take for this app.
I live in a big city, and could probably meet plenty of software developers. I just don’t know how the coding industry really works. Is it normal for a person with a great idea, no money, and no coding knowledge to create something like this?
This is why I came here, my question is what should I do to make this thing come to life? I’m a very fair person and don’t want to over extend anyone’s effort for nothing in return, but I need to get the ball rolling on this idea. So far like I said I have the idea on paper, I’ve written down a rough draft of how the app and the interfaces should work and be laid out. I just don’t have the expertise to make it happen on the software side of things.
Any advice is greatly appreciated, please excuse my ignorance to this side of things.
