Always start small when starting a new project

For the past few months, I've been struggling to find the motivation to start a new programming project. I start it and then give up and I think I've figured out why, I seem to have huge feature ideas for the project and want to get them all coded instead of just building a simple base and building atop of that.

I've decided on my newest project to start as small as possible, even testing is minimal.

Does anyone else do this?
