Bridge education to take someone who learned CompSci in the 90’s, knows how to code but doesn’t know how to software dev?

Something that has been bothering me for a while, hundreds of guides online talk about how to "hello world" in various languages or launches you directly into Git workflows. But I have not yet, to date, found good resources for bridging someone from a "scripter" to a "software developer".

Whether it is due to hacking out scripts in their spare time or their education is just slightly out of date.

I am thinking about the differences in writing code as part of a team, defensive coding practices, structuring code (and your files) in a modern way that has changed dramatically in the last couple of decades.
