ELI5 for a noob: Do software programmers deliberately add bugs to mature, completed apps and then fix them to justify their employment? Create a problem and then sell the solution (and rake in the money) kind of thing? Like how Apple removes the headphone jack and sell a separate adapter

Obviously, I mean to say after the app has been developed and has become mature and successful, i.e no more 'features' can be meaningfully added. Kind of a software project that is in maintenance mode and no longer needs much development.

Sometimes I feel like apps such as Youtube have become mature and as advanced as they ever will be.
