Would it be possible to create software that interfaced with a Supermarket’s Inventory Management SW?

Does anyone have experience with retail software? If someone wanted to work with local retailers to aggregate their stock and keep it as up to date as possible for public search (via app or website), what would have to go into a piece of software for it? Is there a common framework between different store's systems, would you need a way to universally interface with different systems? If so is it possible?
