What is the difference in advancing levels of a company between a fortune 500 sized company and a much smaller, 500 people company? Specifically in software developement but any insight is appreciated. While each company is unique and there may not be a blanket answer for each size of company, are there trends? Is total compensation for large companies typically less than that of the small company but higher levels of a large company are higher? Also what is the timeline like for advancing? Again, totally dependent on individual situations but any insight is helpful. 1 Year, 5 years between levels?
