Computer setup at your work

How is the setup for machine setup at your work? All my previous jobs they gave me a very good dedicated laptop. Never a desktop, never a cheap laptop to connect to say a VM.

I'm thinking of starting a company and one of the challenges is with remote work is the setup of machines to others. I was thinking of having a Chromebook delivered and use a VM and docker for dev. That way it's also easier to ssh to someone's computer to help them to solve a problem. What's your opinion on this take as well?
